The 34th Annual Prize-giving Ceremony

Tseung Kwan O Government Secondary School proudly concluded its 34th Annual Prize-giving Ceremony on Friday, December 5, 2025. The ceremony was graced by the presence of distinguished alumna Ms. Lam Sze Wing, a 2017 graduate, whose participation added a profound sense of kinship and continuity to the occasion.

The school hall was filled to capacity with an esteemed gathering of guests, including professionals from various fields, alumni, principals and teachers from sister schools, parents, faculty members, award recipients, and graduating students. The ceremony commenced with an inspiring opening address by Principal Yiu. She reflected on the past academic year, highlighting the outstanding accomplishments of the students both in academic pursuits and in a wide array of co-curricular competitions. Principal Yiu commended the students for their perseverance in learning and their active participation in diverse activities, encouraging them to sustain their efforts. She expressed her ardent hope that students would continue to strive for excellence in all domains, ultimately contributing to society and serving the nation.

Following Principal Yiu’s report on the school’s developments, the proceedings moved to the presentation of certificates and trophies to the exemplary students, recognizing their dedication and hard-won successes. The awards presentation was succeeded by a heartfelt and motivating speech by the guest of honor, Ms. Lam Sze Wing. She shared her journey since graduation—becoming a registered nurse and subsequently founding a social enterprise—emphasizing that the path was not without its challenges. Drawing from her personal experiences, she offered invaluable advice to her junior schoolmates, encapsulating it in three key principles: first, to believe in one’s own capabilities; second, to know oneself and find the stage where one can shine; and third, to understand the importance of giving back and proactively helping those in need after achieving personal success. She concluded with her warm wishes for the graduates’ future prosperity. Ms. Lam’s eloquent and insightful speech elevated the atmosphere, filling the venue with a sense of harmony and inspiration.

After Ms. Lam’s address, Leung Ho Kwan of Class 6D, last year’s Head Prefect and a model student of exemplary character and scholarship, delivered the graduation vote of thanks on behalf of the Senior Six cohort. To express gratitude to all attendees, a series of captivating student performances ensued. Showcasing the school’s strength in recitation, students presented an English recitation, “The Teacher’s Gift,” and a Chinese recitation, “Reply to Su Wu.” The ceremony drew to a harmonious close as the school choir performed “We Can Make a Difference,” dedicating the piece to all present, followed by a communal singing of the school song by the entire assembly.

The formal ceremony concluded with a photography session at the covered playground, where participants exchanged congratulations and best wishes, marking a perfect end to this year’s significant event.
